New Additions to the 2020 Jeep Wrangler

The Jeep Wrangler has been one of the most popular vehicles of all time and enjoys a cult-like following amongst some drivers. This outpouring of love is the direct result of Jeep’s simple and reliable approach to the design and rugged utility-focused functionality.

All of that said, one of the biggest requests of Wrangler fans over the years has been the inclusion of a diesel engine, something the line has always lacked. Starting with the 2020 line-up, Wrangler fans prayers have been answered.

Borrowing a page (and a few components) from its cousin, the 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, the new 2020 Jeep Wrangler will be offered with a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 engine. Sporting 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque, this latest powerplant will be available on all four-door models.

Powertrain availability varies depending on trim and desired specifications. A hybrid eTorque system is available, providing a 48-volt belt-starter generator for instant torque, although it’s only available on the Sahara trim. That said, you can pair it with either the 2.0-liter turbo-four or the standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6, which is available with a standard six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic. Both the 2.0-liter turbo-four and the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 are available exclusively with the eight-speed automatic transmission. The diesel is available on a variety of trims, including the Sport, Sahara, and Rubicon.

Aside from changes beneath the hood, the 2020 Wrangler sports a variety of available aesthetic and tech upgrades, including Black & Tan instrumentation and upholstery. A 7.0-inch touchscreen serves as a portal to a variety of on-board systems, including dual-zone climate control and an audio system.
