Coupe vs. Sedan: What’s the Difference?

When shopping for a new vehicle to take on your Mission commute, you’ll likely come across plenty of options. Some of which will be coupes and more commonly you’ll see sedans as well. While it can be easy to confuse and mix up the two, they both have their own merits. So, coupes vs. sedans: what’s the difference? Today at Burns Motors, we’ll go over the differences between a coupe and a sedan to help you decide which one you want in your Edinburg driveway.

Common Differences Between Coupes & Sedans

There are a variety of vehicles to choose from with our new and pre-owned inventory. If you’re positive you want to stick to a vehicle that’s lower to the ground, your two main options are coupes and sedans. Before you pick a coupe or sedan for all of your Pharr adventures, let’s take a look at the common differences between the two:

  • Number of Doors: Coupes vs. sedans: what’s the difference? One of the easiest ways to tell if a vehicle is a coupe or sedan is by the number of doors that it has. A coupe will typically have two doors and a sedan will usually have four doors.
  • Styling: In most cases, coupes will have longer doors on each side to accommodate a sleeker style. Coupes also tend to have a sportier stance and swooping designs. Sedans can also have a sportier look but will usually appear a little more balanced thanks to the smaller four doors.
  • Performance: An advantage of having only two doors is reduced weight. Coupes usually have better handling and performance as well since they have two fewer doors.
  • Interior Dimensions: Keep in mind that because coupes only have two doors, they’re typically not as roomy as their sedan counterparts. Sedans have the ability to better fit passengers and their belongings.

Which One Should I Choose?

Can’t decide which one better fits your lifestyle? Consider what you’ll be using your new vehicle for. A sedan like the Dodge Charger is perfect if you want sporty performance but need room and space for regularly hauling passengers and cargo. On the other hand, the Dodge Challenger is the perfect coupe if you want maximum performance and handling. Regardless of which model you choose, you can’t go wrong. Our finance team is here to help you get behind the wheel of your ideal vehicle.
